2nd round of the Danish 1:8 Buggy Championship was at the www.hrcr.dk track north of Copenhagen. It is the same track where the Scandinavian Championship is going to take place in August. The best drivers of Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark will be there.

The weather was perfect with temperatures above 20 degrees and a lot of sun. This also meant a very dry track with dust and medium to low grip. The track is very bumpy and it can be difficult to make the qualification without errors. In the first round I took my Xray/Sirio to a TQ spot â“ but had a mistake that cost me 7 seconds. In the second round I made a perfect run â“ all laps on 30 seconds â“ and when the track is bumpy 30 seconds are the fastest. Third and fourth round was also good and after qualification Xray was TQ and 5 Xrayâ™s in top 10 (Peter Harder, Claus Nielsen, Rune Gustavsen, Robert Hansen and Ole Harder).

In the semi and final the Danish Xray team again had trouble with the engines. In my semi-final the engine flamed out after fuelling. I managed to start in 6th position in the final and before the first fuel stop I was just few meters from the two very fast Culmsee brothers, who drive Mugen and Novarossi. The first fuel stop caused again the engine to go out â“ and at the second fuel stop the same happened. All together I lost 1½ lap but the car was flying and just perfect so after 45 minutes I managed to get second spot and only half a lap from the winning Steffen Culmsee.

Next race will be the EC in Germany and there will be 7 Danish Xray drivers â“ I hope that we have fixed the engine problem and get a victory!
